“There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign.”

Robert Louis Stevenson

I’m Oli, thanks for visiting my website. I have been interested in art from an early age and growing up in the Yorkshire Dales, in the North of England; I have had the stunning scenery to be my subject. My passion for photography grew through travelling and I have been lucky enough to witness places in the world very different from what I am used to, but that are equally as beautiful and interesting to study. Tracking wildlife and working on reserves in Southern Africa allowed me to study animals and my love for wildlife photography grew. In other parts of the world, the people have interested me and capturing portraits has been a great way of portraying the spirit of different locations.

I am currently studying a Masters in Architecture at the Royal College of Art in London, however my fascination with humanity and ways of life goes beyond these studies. I am constantly researching interesting stories to document, using creativity through film and photography, not only architecture, to better inform and shed light on current issues around the world. A recent trip to remote Southern Ethiopia has led to my photography being published and awarded by National Geographic ‘your shot’ online and used by Gadventures National Geographic journeys.

I am fortunate enough to have travelled to remote corners of the world, aiming to capture the soul, spirit and diversity of six continents. With journeys across 41 countries, my photography has allowed me to visit and experience the lives of some of the most fascinating people on this planet. When I am not at university, or travelling I spend time painting. My artwork is expressive, colourful and usually on a large scale. I am inspired by the light that rolls across the landscape, casting shadows and changing colours.

This website was designed to bring together my photography, art and travel journal. If you have any enquiries or wish to support me by purchasing my work, please get in touch.

When I travel, I like to choose destinations which are off the beaten track and that have interesting cultures and stories to document. Through my work I aim to record ancient traditions, ways of life, and remarkable wildlife that exist in fascinating environments in remote locations. My favourite photographs to date have been whilst capturing the exotic wildlife of Madagascar, ancient architecture in Cambodia, and the spectacular ceremonies of the Omo Valley Tribes in Ethiopia and the colourful Holi festival in northern India.

The Subject of artwork is usually centred around landscapes in the North of England. My style of painting is bright, and expressive and I mainly work in thick, textured Acrylics on paper or canvas. This abstracted style aims to capture the dramatic light and colours that the weather casts on the land. Commissions include, Skipton Building Society – Head office and Private collections throughout the U.K. Any Landscape can be commissioned, not just of the North of England.
